Canggu neighbourhoods: Berawa, Batu Bolong, Echo Beach and Pererenan

Canggu is a string of beaches on the south-west coast of Bali, north of Seminyak, with rice fields and lanes in between. From south to north:

Berawa

The southern end, closest to Seminyak. A beach break suited to intermediate surfers, and Finns Beach Club on the sand.

Nelayan

A quieter stretch between Berawa and Batu Bolong, with fishing boats on the beach.

Batu Bolong

The centre of Canggu for most visitors: beginner-friendly waves, sunset bars along the beach and the Pura Batu Bolong temple on the rocks.

Echo Beach

Reef breaks for experienced surfers, and a row of restaurants facing the sea.

Pererenan

The northern end: strong waves and a calmer feel than the centre. Tribal Bali coworking is here.

Getting around

Ngurah Rai airport is about 20 km away, 45 minutes to over an hour depending on traffic. Tanah Lot temple is about 20 minutes to the north. Coworking spaces include Tropical Nomad, ZIN@Work, Tribal Bali (Pererenan) and Puco Rooftop (Tibubeneng).

Where Villa Ceria is

Villa Ceria is on Jalan Padang Tawang in Canggu. According to local listings the street is about 10 minutes from the beach and about an hour from the airport. The house sits behind a carved Balinese gate in a walled garden, so the lanes stay outside.
